This will depend on your schedule and how much time you can spend finishing your classes and when you'll be able to sit for the exam. You have one full year to complete your coursework in our new and improved student learning environment. We are proud to be your educational partner and believe that our commitment to you and Texas Real Estate shows in our exceptional pass rates and world-class customer service.

Starting and completing more than one qualifying course within the same 3 days does not comply with Commission rules. Additionally, TREC will only allow a student to take course at a time — In other words, the hour course should take no fewer than 18 days to complete — And you should take at least 3 days to complete each 30 hour course. As you move through the VanEd Texas Licensing coursework, you will be timed and we will notify you if you need to spend more time in the course. Give us a call at or an email at texas vaned.

Alternate, substitute or related coursework is not allowed for application toward a Texas real estate license. Additional information on the proctoring process can be found here.

You have one 1 year from the date your application is filed to meet all license requirements. After meeting the requirements, you will be issued an inactive license. When the application requirements are met, TREC will send you an eligibility letter which includes an ID number that you will need to register to take the licensing examination. After completing the exam, you need to be sponsored by an active Texas licensed broker to work. You can complete a sponsorship request using the online portal.

You cannot submit a sponsorship request until you have been issued an inactive license. Once the broker has accepted your request, your active license will be issued. Learn more about finding a sponsoring broker. You are required by law to have fingerprints on file with the Texas Department of Public Safety DPS so a background check can be performed. Fingerprints on file for other agencies will not be accepted.

When you have received your exam eligibility letter from TREC, you may schedule a fingerprint appointment through MorphoTrust. Pursuant to DPS requirements, you will be photographed as part of the fingerprint process. You must pay a fingerprinting fee to the vendor in a manner that is acceptable to the vendor.

Typically, if you take an in-person course, it follows a semester calendar, meaning that you could complete your requirements in a few months.

You could also opt for a self-paced course, usually delivered online, which allows you to complete the classroom requirements on your own timetable, in as little as a few weeks.

Upon completing your classroom education, you must submit your application and submit to a background check. Submitting your application online is the preferred method, and it will take two to three weeks to process. If you opt for a paper application, you will have to pay an additional processing fee, and it can delay processing.

Forgetting to include any required documents — including your educational certificates — can also delay your application, so be sure to include all required information. Once your application is processed, you will receive a TREC ID number, which will authorize you to take the exam and be fingerprinted. Sales License Designated Broker.
