What is the difference between r53 and r56

J B posted in The Mini Works. It is tremendous fun, and it does sound fantastic r53 Richard Hammond The R56 also gets hotter than the R53 I find I have to have the ac on all the time where as in my R53 opening the windows is more than sufficient, I find also that the R56 uses more petrol that the R53 and that thing on the dash telling me what gear to be it is annoying and stupid indicating that at 30 mph I should be in 5th Join In Want to add something?

GP2 - As with the GP that came before it, the GP2 is predominantly a track-based car with no rear seats, a rear strut brace and custom Bilstein suspension which provides a lower ride height than the JCW and Cooper S models.

The limited edition GP2 Recaro seats, GP2 spoiler as well as front and rear diffusers add to the sporty feel of the car.

Another highly sought-after model, production was limited to only 2, units in a limited run. Replacing the ever popular R52, the R57 came with improved styling and engineering that was intended to be closer to the Hatch.

Although not as adept for the track as the Hatch, partly in thanks due to the weight of the retractable roof and a less rigid chassis, the R57 can have the same engine modifications as the R Whilst not conventionally beautiful, the coupe has seating for 2 people, which adds space for a larger boot, making it the perfect urban car for couples living in the city.

A sister of the Coupe, the Roadster is fit for 2 people with a low centre of gravity to navigate through both narrow city roads with the convertible top down or challenge long stretches of motorway at pace.

If you did want to mod your Roadster, it can benefit from the same engine tuning modification options as the R The MINI Countryman is an adventurer — a versatile car with off-road capabilities, ideal for longer journeys. At just under 4. The concept of a three-door version of the Countryman seems to contradict the big MINI's practical traits of extra space and family friendly versatility. The new generation also featured greater safety measures, including forward collision warning and a rear view camera in order to keep competitive in an ever-growing safety-conscious market.

Although a direct replacement for the R55 model, the F54 has been almost completely redesigned. With a lower road height when compared with the Countryman and larger interior space provides a much more comfortable drive for both the driver and passengers. The JCW models from onwards feature the most powerful MINI engine yet with an output of bhp - equivalent to the GP3 - and also featured an 8 speed transmission with manual shift.

Engine upgrades are available for Pre-LCI models whilst suspension, chassis and brake upgrades are available for all F54 models. Its crazy fast, high end performance car fast. Everyone likes them, they are the underdog and have always been considered that way, in a world of bigger is better.

The passion is second to none. So, its to the scores. As great a car as the R53 is, And it really is. The R56 slightly beats it in all departments in my opinion, just about. Sure its not as pretty, its not quite so go kart like either. However, the xtra oomph from the turbo motor, coupled with the more premium feel and lower running costs push the R56 ahead.

Media options are more like its German BMW cousins too, its a car that has become easy to live with on a day to day basis. Don't get me wrong, all Mini's are fun and worth owning, but they are not always 'easy to live with' as most Generation 1 BMW Mini owners will tell you.

Technology and design progress win this time, but will the F56 follow the trend? Next time, we get the F56 verdict and the crown of Oxfords finest will be decided, for now Tim Rodie. Doug F. I have only had my Mini for a month now but thought that I would throw in my tuppence-worth based on my recently buying experience. Took me a while to even consider a Mini, and when I did I had no idea of the difference between an R53 and an R I had a good look around the forecourt and decided to test drive a couple of cars, a R56 MCS with 60k on the clock and the R53 — I drove both cars back to back.

The R56 was a great car, plenty of umph when the turbo whirred into life, it was comfy and quite refined and handled very well — nothing obvious that would have stopped me from buying the car. I can only offer an opinion based on a couple of 20 mins back to back drives, in 6 months time I might have a difference of opinion but I cannot imagine ever tiring of the R MaDMaX68 11 posts months.

AdYa posts months. I have one of the last of the R53s, on a 56 plate. After a year I went to test drive the R56 as I was considering a switch. It wasn't a hard decision, I kept the R If ever a car has character it's the original supercharged one. Maddog hits the nail on the head a few posts up! Justin S 3, posts months.

My mate has just bought a new JCW and px'd his highly tweeked R56 for it. His new car is more refined, more sized, more frugal on fuel, more money!!
