Hi guys, I have heard the term "Per Diem" pool used a lot on this board and was hoping that someone would take the time to explain to me what it is and how it works in nursing. Thanks, colleen. OK, here's my best explanation If you are in a clinical support role like a manager or educator, it is not always possible to work extra shifts in your home unit. However, as a per diem nurse, you can work shifts in similar units in other hospitals.
